The “Jaddi Kanaan” Jerusalemite foundation organized its annual children’s festival in Jordan on the occasion of Ramadan, aiming to strengthen children’s connection to their faith and holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque. The festival features various educational activities, including puppet shows, interactive sessions with the character of the Sahoor drummer, and a market for Jerusalemite Ramadan products. The executive director of the foundation, Dr. Rana Al-Qaisi, emphasized that the festival provides children with a practical and enjoyable experience of performing their religious duties while promoting their connection to Jerusalem and its holy sites.

he Jerusalem festival included several educational activities designed to introduce children to Ramadan traditions and values. Highlights included the puppet show “Welcome Ramadan,” which explained Ramadan traditions and rituals in a simple way, highlighting Jerusalem and its holy sites. The event also featured interactive sessions with the Sahoor drummer, who asked children questions about Ramadan and Jerusalem, encouraging participation and positive competition.

Dr. Rana Al-Qaisi, Executive Director of the foundation, emphasized that the festival provides children with a practical experience of performing their religious duties, such as prayer, fasting, and charity, in a fun and engaging way, strengthening their connection to Jerusalem and its holy sites 💫.

Rana Al-Qaisi emphasized that the events provide children with a fun and practical religious experience, strengthening their      connection to Ramadan and Jerusalem.

She added that the foundation ensures the events are diverse, with various corners for different activities, along with a market for Jerusalemite Ramadan products. The goal is to instill a love for Ramadan in children from a young age through play, daily interactions, and incentives.

The events reflect the foundation’s commitment to providing innovative educational content that combines knowledge, fun, and a sense of belonging to holy sites, making Ramadan a comprehensive learning experience for children and families.

“We aim to make Jerusalem present in all our religious, national, and social occasions,” she said, highlighting a product titled “My Jerusalemite Ramadan,” which outlines a worship map for children during Ramadan with a Jerusalemite touch 🌙.

Jerusalemite Ramadan products

The charity market is part of the foundation’s annual product series, offering educational games and interactive products that help kids learn about Ramadan in a fun way. These products strengthen kids’ connection to their faith and Jerusalemite identity, and provide families with educational tools for home use.

Dozens of kids participated in the festival, expressing joy in the interactive activities. 9-year-old Yahya Abdullah said, “I loved the puppet show and learned about the Sahoor drummer and how people wake up for Suhoor.”

Yahya learned Ramadan is about worship, helping others, and learning about Jerusalem’s holy sites – “an important part of our faith and heritage.” He looks forward to participating in Jerusalemite Ramadan activities annually.

Yahya’s experience reflects kids’ positive engagement with the foundation’s educational and Ramadan activities, strengthening their connection to Jerusalem and its holy sites.
